Why do writers write? Because it isn’t there. ~Thomas Berger

I saw this quote and it started me thinking. We do indeed write because it isn’t there. But that means so much more than the story isn’t there or the words aren’t there.

We write because something isn’t there inside of us. Something missing that writing fills, at least for a little while.

It’s that need to create. Leave something behind that says “I WAS HERE.”

Everyone feels it whether they admit it or not.  Some fill that void with business or money, others with children. Some people paint while others build skyscrapers.

Writers fill it with words.

Because it isn’t there.
